So you need to hire a new head…now what?
Steps, Missteps, and Pitfalls!

Facilitated by: Chip Barder and Bambi Betts

TBA

Whatever model of governance your school may have, you are charged with hiring a head of school who will implement the mission, ensure the nature and direction of your school are safeguarded and sustained, and that students are learning.

What will we learn?

Join us to explore tools and questions:

  • Why do we need a new head?

  • How do we get started?

  • Should we do it on our own or engage outside help?

  • How do we define the essential criteria for the position, taking into account the recent past, current state and expected direction of the school?

  • What are successful planning models for the who, what, where, why, and when of the process?

  • What are the dilemmas, traps and pitfalls we might encounter?

  • What does a successful transition and onboarding process look like?

Who is it for?

  • Board members, owners and others involved in school governance

How does it work?

The session features:

  • Interactive presentation during which you will engage with some exercises and reflections

  • Breakout rooms with other participants

  • An optional job-alike hour—stay on with us to chat with others in the role

  • PDF packet of materials which you will use for the interactive parts of the session
