Jeff is an inspirational and results-driven leader with over 25 years of experience in international and American public, independent, and Catholic schools. A recipient of the 2024 Archdiocesan Leadership Award for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Jeff Matthews currently serves as the Principal of St. Cecilia Catholic School (PK-8) in Houston, Texas. Prior to St. Cecilia, Jeff was the Head of School of Holy Trinity Episcopal School (PK-12) and Director of Academic Affairs at The Village School (PK-12), also in Houston. Before returning to the US, Jeff spent ten years at Instituto San Roberto in Monterrey, Mexico, where he served as the Elementary Principal, Math Coach, and Middle School Math Teacher.

Jeff currently serves on the Assessment Committee for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, where he has spearheaded the development of a new teacher supervision and evaluation program. Throughout his career, Jeff has led school improvement efforts in curriculum development, balanced literacy, data-driven decision-making, STEM integrations, and standards-based assessment and grading reform. Currently, St. Cecilia Catholic School is the only school in the archdiocese that has standards-based assessment, grading, and reporting. Jeff has also developed a teacher supervision, appraisal, and professional development program for the Meritas family of international schools. Jeff holds a Master’s Degree in International Education, a Certificate of International School Leadership from the PTC, and is currently pursuing an Ed.D in Ethical Leadership.
