Matt Parr, originally from the UK, has been involved in international education for over 20 years. He is currently the Head of School at Nagoya International School, Japan, a CIS-WASC accredited IB school which has been serving the international (and internationally minded) community of Nagoya for nearly 60 years. He holds a BMus. (Music) from the University of Wales, Cardiff and a MSc. in Educational Leadership from the University of Leicester (UK). He is a recipient of both the initial and advanced Certificates of International School Leadership (Principals’ Training Centre), and a holder of the UK’s National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL). Prior to his appointment as Head of School Matthew served as the Secondary School Principal, Director of Curriculum and Professional Development and Director of Fine Arts at Saint Maur International School in Yokohama, Japan, and has also held positions as Head of Music and Music Teacher in the UK. Matthew enjoys his work for the Principal’s Training Centre (PTC) and Teacher Training Centre (TTC) where he specializes in courses on Curriculum and Assessment. Matthew serves as the President for the Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS) and is an accreditation team chair, report moderator and team evaluator trainer for the Council of International Schools. Matthew is married with two children – aged 18 and 10 – both of whom teach him everything (well almost everything) he needs to know about learning!
