Getting to Solutions: The Heart of Counseling

Kindall Tyson, a native of Texas, is a life-long learner, an avid traveler, a creator, and desires to be a catalyst for impactful change. She has spent the last 16 years working in education in the United States and Beijing and has had an opportunity to connect with, support, and collaborate with several amazing people around the world. During her time abroad, Kindall learned the importance of personal fortitude, self-awareness, and creativity as strengths and keys to thriving.

Kindall, a Licensed Psychotherapist, an LPC Supervisor, and a Professional School Counselor owns an international therapy and consulting practice, Aspire Counseling & Wellness Center. She most recently served as the lead high school counselor at the International School of Beijing where, as the only Black woman in leadership, she lead a team that prioritized and normalized mental health, intersectionality, culturally responsive support, family and community collaboration, and the creation of engaging, relevant programming and content. During her six years living and working in Beijing, Kindall also worked as the secondary counselor at Tsinghua International School and Dulwich College Beijing. She is passionate about working with students to help them realize and reclaim their power, make healthy decisions, learn healthier coping skills, and learn healthier more effective ways of connecting and relating to others. As a clinician, Kindall understands the importance of consistent, safe community spaces and believes in the power of learning about others’ cultures as a pathway to become more empathetic and globally minded.

Kindall works diligently to break the stigma of mental illness and to promote the importance of mental health and wellness from a culturally responsive perspective. Furthermore, as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, she endeavors to help educate and support the upcoming generation of culturally competent, international clinicians and professional school counselors.

Kindall recognizes the power and responsibility of being a culturally responsive coalition builder. Kindall knows that counseling can be a tool to build empathic, understanding, intersectional, and safe communities. She aims to facilitate that growth for those ready to embark on the journey.
