Overview

Are you an aspiring or current international school counselor who learns best by practicing skills through case studies, role plays and other active approaches? This Intensive Skills Practice is for you! Join us for the opportunity to practice the critical skills that all international school counselors need. Through content from the five online core CTC courses, you will be active and engaged in your skill development the entire time! Whether you are a newly qualified or experienced international school counselor, practicing these skills in a dynamic in-person setting with course colleagues and an international school facilitator will support you on your learning journey.

Learning Goals

Through case studies, scenarios, role plays and other active approaches, participants will develop skills in:

  • active listening and reading body language

  • presenting to teachers, parents and students

  • using open-ended questioning for difficult conversations

  • addressing serious concerns preemptively and responsively

  • identifying and addressing impact vs intent with students

  • researching new methodologies, approaches and issues

  • self-reflecting based on standards of practice

  • problem solving, critical thinking and prioritizing
